12 Hours in Singapore — The Ultimate Foodie Trail (Grab)

Transport: Grab · Vibe: A culinary deep-dive across the island · Pace: High-Track

Twelve hours and a Grab account give you the freedom to eat your way across every major food hub in Singapore—from the art-deco lanes of Tiong Bahru to the Peranakan heart of the East and the world-famous "Satay Street." This is the ultimate "Hawker Marathon" for those who want to see it all and taste even more.

Leaving Changi

Take a Grab from the "Arrival Pick-up" point. It’s a 20-minute ride to Tiong Bahru Market. Download the Grab app before landing and link your payment method for the most efficient travel.

Stop 1 — Tiong Bahru Heritage & Breakfast

Arrive: ~40 min after leaving Changi · Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Tiong Bahru is Singapore’s oldest planned estate. The wet market and hawker centre here are the destinations for Shui Kueh (steamed rice cakes) and local coffee (Kopi). After your first meal, take a walk through the 1930s heritage shophouses.

📸 Photo moment: The spiralling staircases of the Moh Guan Terrace blocks.

Stop 2 — Peranakan Flavours in Katong

Arrive: ~2h 25min after leaving Changi · Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

A 15-minute Grab ride takes you East to Katong. This is the heart of the Straits Chinese (Peranakan) community. Sit down for a bowl of 328 Katong Laksa — a spicy, coconut-based noodle soup that is world-renowned.

💡 Local tip: Look at the colourful shophouses on Koon Seng Road before you leave; they are the most photographed houses in the city.

Stop 3 — Michelin Lunch at Maxwell

Arrive: ~4h 7min after leaving Changi · Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

A 12-minute Grab ride brings you to Chinatown. Maxwell Food Centre houses Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice. It is the gold standard for Singapore’s national dish. Afterward, soak in the heritage vibes of the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple.

Stop 4 — Kampong Glam Culture & Snack

Arrive: ~5h 45min after leaving Changi · Duration: 2 hours

Travel via Grab to the historic Malay quarter. Visit Singapore Zam Zam for a legendary Murtabak (stuffed pancake). Explore Haji Lane for its vibrant murals and boutique shops — a perfect place for a mid-afternoon snack or coffee.

Stop 5 — Newton Food Centre (Evening Feast)

Arrive: ~7h 55min after leaving Changi · Duration: 2 hours

A 10-minute Grab ride takes you to the quintessential Singapore dinner experience. Featured in movies like Crazy Rich Asians, Newton is the place for Chilli Crab, Cereal Prawns, and fresh Satay. The outdoor atmosphere under the trees is unbeatable.

Stop 6 — Dessert at Jewel

Arrive: ~10h 15min after leaving Changi · Duration: 1.5 hours

Return to Changi via Grab. Spend your final 90 minutes at Jewel. With the Rain Vortex illuminated at night, it is the most spectacular way to end your transit. Head to the basement for Birds of Paradise Gelato before heading to your gate.
